Mini Dresses Perfect for Date Night
Let me get a hands up from my ladies quarantined with their partners trying to remain cute while rotating the same 3 sweatsuits and making do with grown out roots and janky nails. I feel you, girl. Sam may be traveling for work more than normal at the moment, but I’m trying my best to keep the romance alive in our house when he is home by getting dressed up and planning special dates.
My favorite date yet was last Friday when I surprised Sam by transforming our living room into a “restaurant” with candles, a DIY dinner menu and place setting, and romantic music. I slid into a silky midi dress with a high slit and a sexy swoop top and cooked him a 3-course meal complete with muddled cocktails. He was totally shocked when he walked in the door, and it set the stage for a sweet and romantic weekend.
After seeing Sam’s reaction and noticing how getting dolled up improved my mood as well, I’m determined to make “Flirty Fridays” a weekly tradition, even in post-quarantine (and yes, even throughout our big move; I love a good challenge).
With the days blending together at this point in lockdown, I feel like it is something to look forward to on my calendar each week, and it will help separate my work days from the weekend.
Our dates over the past couple months may not have consisted of fancy home-cooked meals every time, but even when we are simply dressing up to dance in our living room, or sneaking away to have a picnic date on the beach, I think that putting in the extra effort has made a huge difference.
Just because restaurants and other activities are closed doesn’t mean date night is canceled or that we have an excuse for our relationship to go stagnant. We simply need to get more creative.
Spending a little extra time on my hair and makeup, adding a spritz of perfume, and putting on a pretty dress not only makes Sam feel appreciated, but it also gives me a boost in confidence as well.
Even if you aren’t quarantined with a significant other, I think that getting dressed up (for the gram’, a video chat, or your eyes only) can drastically improve your overall mood! At the very least, you can use this time to figure out what you feel most confident in and set up your wardrobe with a lineup of gorgeous dresses to wear when you’re ready to get back out there and go on dates.
