How to Monetize on Pinterest

“How can I make money on Pinterest?” This is one of the most asked questions I’ve gotten since openly sharing my Pinterest growth to 60 MILLION monthly impressions. Even now as I write this, my account has surpassed 70 Million monthly impressions and it is climbing every single day.

What are these impressions worth if they don’t translate to income? The answer: not a whole lot. That’s why it’s so important to nail down your Pinterest marketing strategy with monetization front of mind.

Believe it or not, there are plenty of ways to earn income on Pinterest as a blogger, influencer, and even an Etsy/small shop owner. From affiliate links to brand partnerships, directing traffic to your blog to earn ad revenue, linking an Etsy/small business shop page, discount codes, and so much more.

My biggest and most useful tip for all things business-related is to not put all of your eggs in one basket (aka diversify your revenue streams). That’s why, in my last blog post, How I Grew to 60 MILLION Impressions on Pinterest, I discussed how my marketing strategy is unique from so many other content creators.

While most people are focusing ALL of their efforts on Instagram and getting completely burnt out and frustrated by the ever-changing algorithm, I wouldn’t dare put the fate of my business into a platform that I don’t own.

That’s right, Instagram could disappear at any moment without so much of a 15-minute notice. Then, poof! All of the hard work you have poured into this app over the past several years could be gone forever.

Now, don’t get me wrong; Instagram isn’t the only social media app that could potentially do this. Of course, Facebook, Tiktok, and Pinterest could do the same. Although, with Pinterest serving their audience as more of a search engine than a social media platform, I highly doubt that, like Google, it is going anywhere.

However, my point here is that I put my eggs in a basket that I own: MY BLOG. All of the other platforms simply serve as a means to drive traffic to my website hub.

Now, you may be wondering: how does this have anything to do with monetizing on Pinterest?

Well, friend let’s get into it. Since 2018, Pinterest has unquestionably been my number 1 source of traffic to my blog earning me ad revenue, affiliate income, helping me land brand collaborations, and now even translating to e-book sales. The ways that I can utilize Pinterest in order to continue diversifying my income streams are nearly limitless.

Within 12 months, I grew my Pinterest Impressions from thousands to millions. Although Pinterest’s business analytics will only allow me to access as far back as July of 2019 (24.7k impressions per day), from that point to December of 2020 (2.46m impressions per day), I increased my daily visibility by over 10,000%.

More importantly, in 2020 alone, the unique visitor traffic to my blog increased by 675%, my affiliate link clicks increased by 142%, my ad revenue increased by 500%, and I’ve had countless opportunities for paid collaborations as these statistics have begun to speak for themselves.

When you shift your focus to believing that Pinterest is a search engine as opposed to a social media app, you can appreciate and maximize its potential to earn you income for years to come (most of the time without even lifting a finger).

Throughout the 10 Chapters in my eBook, I am diving into my specific strategy for growing on Pinterest, treating this platform as an essential part of your business plan, and how to convert impressions to sales.

I give you the full breakdown on affiliate marketing, ad banners, brand collaborations, discount codes, new Pinterest features and tools, and more to provide you with simple and practical steps you will need to take in order to make money on Pinterest.
