DIY Nurses' Basket

One of the projects floating around Instagram and Pinterest lately have been DIY Nurses’ Baskets to show appreciation to the staff in your room while in labor. While it is another responsibility to add to your ever-expanding list while preparing for your due date, I feel confident in saying that it may be one of the most important.

From what I have been told (obviously I haven’t experienced this firsthand yet), your doctor is only with you very briefly throughout your entire labor experience. As a result, the nurses are the ones that are your primary caregivers. Showing your appreciation for the nurses that will be taking care of you and your newborn baby (or babies) is a kind gesture, and selfishly I think it can only improve your labor experience. If everyone in the room is feeling happy, full, and energized, you are much more likely to enjoy your stay.

I know that pregnancy and preparing for labor can be quite expensive, so I totally understand not wanting to go over-the-top when it comes to creating a Nurses’ Basket for the hospital. Thankfully, these gift baskets don’t have to be expensive! You can easily get away with spending less than $50 while still showing your appreciation for the nurses on staff during your baby’s delivery.

Personally, I chose to use a basket I already had on hand and I was able to get all of the goodies inside from Target. My total came to $55.24 for everything you see in my photos (linked below).

Now, when it comes to doing a “theme” for these DIY gift baskets, that is totally up to you! Since I know that we are having a boy, I decided to choose snacks and drinks that are all blue to make the basket cohesive and fun.

Without further ado, below I’m sharing my full list of ideas for what to add to your DIY Nurses’ Basket!
