NYFW Fall 2020: Trends Spotted on and off the Runway

LifestylebyAnnaElizabeth-5731.jpg

It has officially been 1 month since I stepped foot inside Spring Studios in New York City for Fashion Week. Now that I’ve had a proper chance to reflect on the shows that I was fortunate enough to attend and the street style worn by industry professionals, influencers, and celebrities that I witnessed firsthand, I feel more motivated than ever to put what I’ve learned to good use.

In less than 4 days, I was able to attend 5 shows with 14 designers, attend several events, and meet countless creatives that left me feeling inspired beyond words.

Something that I loved seeing this season in comparison to last is the movement toward more wearable and attainable fashion for the everyday woman looking to feel confident and sophisticated. Both on and off the runway, I noticed a decrease in flashy pieces that provide shock-value in favor of more simplistic and sustainable items.

Today, I’m sharing a full breakdown of the shows I attended and my favorite trends from on and off the runway (aka the outfits I’m most likely to copy):

My favorite trends spotted off the runway were: tonal/monochromatic color schemes, shades of beige, millennial pink, knee-high boots, trench coats, chunky sneakers, leather, plaid, micro bags, and oversized fold-over clutches.

Here’s a look at a few of my favorite street style outfits during NYFW Fall 2020:

Now, for the shows. Once again, it was truly an honor to witness firsthand this lineup of talented and emerging designers from around the world. Between the range in colors, textures, and silhouettes, there was certainly no shortage of innovation and artistic expression.

My favorite trends spotted on the runway were: glamorous metallics and sequins, silky rich fabrics, asymmetrical hemlines, tonal/monochromatic color palettes, paisley, neck scarves, and feminine prints mixed with rock-n-roll leather and suede.
